Estate Cleanout Preparation Checklist

Before Albemarle Moving Arrives

• Secure documents. Move all legal, financial, and medical records to a safe location before the crew arrives. We do not go through papers, but it is safer to remove them first.
• Remove valuables. Jewelry, cash, firearms (requires separate transfer — we do not transport firearms), and small collectibles should be removed by the family before the cleanout.
• Family has identified their items. Items specific family members are claiming should either be physically removed from the property or clearly marked with the person's name.
• Note hazardous materials. Paint cans, chemicals, motor oil, and propane cannot go in our truck. Set aside and we will advise on disposal.
• Confirm property access. Keys, garage door codes, alarm codes, gate codes — make sure the crew can access every area that needs to be cleared.
• Get a free on-site estimate. Albemarle Moving does a free walkthrough before any work begins to give you an exact price and timeline.

What You Do NOT Need to Do

• Sort items into keep/donate/trash piles — we sort for donation as we load
• Move furniture to the ground floor or outside — we carry from anywhere
• Disassemble anything — we handle standard disassembly
• Arrange dumpster rental — we are the alternative
• Pay a deposit — never required at Albemarle Moving
